Lauren Londons Weave Length

Thursday, June 11, 2009: East Coast

woke up we went to see the longest wharf in New Zealand. The weather was awful .... But we still went all the way!
But it was not taken too long and began the road to the East Coast!

Reassuring ...

Tikitiki first stop to see the Christian Church Holy Mary full of decorations Maori. She is beautiful, it really changes to see a church like that! I agree especially with all the colorful cushions on the benches, it feels warm!

A drunk guy asking us to take a ride in exchange for marijuana. ... Heu ben was not exactly even less desire to make you stop in there sorry! He insists and blocked me the door I can not close it. A strength to say no he ended up leaving with its packs of beer, phew!

then stop at Te Araroa to see the largest Pohutukawa (Christmas Tree) from New Zealand: he has 22 trunks!

toilets reassuring ....

Maori are much more prevalent in the North Island, I could see the museum Te Papa on the map that I had photographed, but now it seems even more obvious when traveling!
On the way we meet a lot of common houses and marae (place of meetings and ceremonies).

The Te Kaha is splendid. I'm still as impressed with their sculptures and these colors!

The last we see is Omaio.

It was in this city we find ourselves in the middle of the reservation!
In the town before we were told "the nearest town to get some fuel at 10min is" the sudden we had not bothered there was plenty to go driving on the reservation!

And once they arrived .... SORRY NO MORE PETROL written in bulk. Oh no. The next station? At 40 km! It was not enough gas to get there ... the management station attempts to call her husband to see if they can troubleshoot naked but she can not reach him!

We decide to push on to the city after. More than 50 km from the reserve, we cross our fingers that the van does not give rise to a! Then we finally arrived in Hawaii.
Cedric is already ready to go get fuel stop the next big city (67km ...). It still stops at a campsite in case they ask if they have. And here luck HUGE (New Zealand Spirit would have it) the manager sells us the gas 10litres he kept for his boat. ! It is too happy to "save life" as he says!

We leave with big smiles and it makes full Opitiki, the "Great City".
The daughter of the resort is lovely, makes me gasoline (yes they insist here to help you do it!) And chatting with me about our trip. She suggests checking our levels of water and oil impec like that it is done, we had to do it anyway!
We leave no worries, it makes us a huge smile. It is not possible that people are so nice here ... ...

It is night we are going to park on the road to Ohope Beach, known for being a great surfing beach!
I would finish my book for the Whale Rider. I devoured it's really great! This is the 5th book I buy in English and I'm glad to see that by dint of language is hardly a problem, it goes all alone!

PS novelty in the van. The sliding door side does not open from inside, one is forced to climb over the front seats open for outside! Grrrrr ...
