Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki 100 days Sunday gave his ministers to prove themselves, after angry demonstrations Friday and Saturday in the main cities of the country against the government's incompetence.
"Mr Maliki has set the government departments and a period of 100 days after which a report will be drawn on the failures and successes of each in their mission, "said a statement from the office of prime minister after a cabinet meeting" extraordinary ".
" changes will take place on the basis of this record, "he warned his ministers.
The audit comes after demonstrations across the country to denounce the lack of decent public services and corruption. Since the beginning of the month these events were 23 killed, including a policeman.
Maliki also presented during the cabinet meeting the means to fight against corruption and warned ministers they were "responsible" for what was happening in their department and they had to act against bribery even before the intervention of "Integrity Commission (ICC).
Iraq is ranked among the four most corrupt countries in the world, according to Justice Rahim al-Uqali, who heads the ICC, the Iraqi ministers prefer to cover up corruption in their department rather than fight it.
To avoid nepotism criticized by the demonstrators, Mr Maliki has demanded that "all vacancies (Public Service) are posted and not kept secret."
The Prime Minister has also ordered an inquiry into the violence that has killed 18 people during demonstrations on Friday and Saturday, to "find those responsible, whether demonstrators or security forces."
An appeal was launched for new demonstrations across Iraq on Friday to express the disappointment of voters nearly a year after the legislative elections of March 7 and pay tribute to the 18 demonstrators killed.
"Hello hungry Iraq. On the first anniversary of the election, and we will be at the rendezvous + + Friday of regret for having elected members who do not serve Iraq and do not respond to the desire of Iraqis, "said a message posted on the site DJIA (hungry).
