12x2 Round Cake Temp And Time

Monday, June 22, 2009: Whangarei, Tutukaka, Matapouri, Kerikeri.

After spending the night in Whangarei you wake up in the middle of lots of cars, the parking lot is full! We will do a city tour in the morning. The center is simpa with designs on tiles that tell the history of the city and sculptures. There is even a street in a completely different style and on behalf of candy (Quality Street)!

A forest in the city? no, just green plants!

We then strolled the riverside. It was superb! Full of colonial style houses and a giant sundial in front of the clock museum. And always the weather!

On leaving the town we went to see a huge waterfall and quite impressive!

Then then took the "tourist road" along the coast. We stopped at the port of Tutukaka, really cute.

Then we went to Matapouri beach, a huge white sand beach! A little like Abel Tasman!
Really GREAT!
One of the most beautiful beach on the North Island to my eyes!

At the end we borrowed a path through a cave that led to the Mermaid Pool. A turquoise blue water like a swimming pool surrounded by rocks.

was then the road to Waitangi to see a Maori canoe but it was closed once we went up KeriKeri to sleep!
